AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMPLAINT PROCEDURE



               The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

               prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities be excluded from, denied the

               benefits of, or subject to discrimination with regards to employment, transportation,

               public accommodation, communications, and governmental activities. Under the ADA, a

               person has a disability if he or she has a physical or mental impairment that substantial

               limits a major life activity. This Complaint Procedure is established to meet the

               requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). It may be used

               by anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of

               disability in the provision of services, activities, programs or benefits by the

               Petersburg Area Transit. Complaints may file a complaint with PAT, Yvette

               These procedures do not deny the right of the complainant to file formal complaints

               with other State or Federal agencies or to seek private counsel for complaints

               alleging discrimination. Every effort will be made to obtain early resolution of

               complaints at the lowest level possible. The option of informal mediation

               meeting(s) between the affected parties and PAT may be utilized for resolution.

               Any individual, group of individuals or entity that believes they have been

               subjected to discrimination prohibited under Americans with Disabilities Act.

               he following measures will be taken to resolve complaints:


                  ➢ A formal complaint must be filed within 30 days of the alleged occurrence.

                   Complaints shall be in writing and signed by the individual of his/her

                    representative, and will include the complainant’s name, address and telephone

                    number; A statement detailing the facts and circumstances of the alleged

                    discrimination must accompany all complaints The complaint form may be found at
